FAQ's
Where do you hold your group classes?
We instruct classes in several locations. Our group classes are held in partnership with Royal Pet Resort in Hiram, Kennesaw Kennel Club, and Pine Mountain Veterinary Clinic.
For classes held through Royal Pet Resort:
The Royal Pet Resort is located near Olde Towne Hiram, 1434 Hiram Douglasville Highway, in Hiram (approximately one mile south on 92, from the intersection of Highway 92 and Highway 278)
For classes held through Kennesaw Kennel Club, all classes are held at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta:
Jim R. Miller Park
2245 Callaway Road
Marietta, GA 30008
For classes held through Pine Mountain Veterinary Clinic:
1483 Kennesaw Due West Rd NW
Kennesaw, Georgia 30152
Where do you hold your private classes?
We conduct our private classes wherever you need help the most--in your home, at your office, or even at the park!
Will you come to my home?
Absolutely! We serve pet owners in West Cobb and East Paulding counties. If you live outside of our area, we may still be able to help, but additional mileage fees will apply.
Should my family attend class?
Yes! Dogs learn the best through consistency. We want everyone in your family to learn how to "speak dog" so that your dog can easily learn each lesson. For families with younger children, we recommend that an extra grown-up attend class with them so that you can focus entirely on your pet.
Can my child train our dog in class?
Yes, children over the age of 10 may handle your pet in our group classes with prior instructor consent. A responsible adult must always be present.
Do you offer Board and Train programs?
No, we do not offer board and train programs. We feel that the success of any dog training program relies on the relationship that you build with your pet--not the relationship we may build with him! If you believe board and train would be best for your pet because of his "rowdy" behavior or because of personal time constraints, please contact us to see how we can help.
My dog doesn't care for other dogs. What should we do?
Dogs who don't care for other dogs begin their training with an in-home consultation. We will meet with you in your home, obtain a thorough history, and evaluate your pet. At the conclusion of our consult, we will give you our recommendation about which ShadowMe program is best for you.
My dog has bitten a person. Can you help us?
For dogs displaying aggression directed at people, we will also start with an in-home consultation. In addition to the written history and temperament evaluation, we may recommend additional medical screenings to ensure that your pet's aggression is not the result of an underlying disease process. Once we have all of the information, we will recommend a training program for you. If we feel that your dog's behavior is beyond our capabilities, we will refer you to a veterinary behaviorist for additional help.
How do you feel about underground or "invisible" fences?
ShadowMe Dog Training does not recommend underground fence systems as a means of containment for your pet. For a thorough discussion of the pros and cons of these fences vs traditional, barrier type fences, please visit our article, Underground Fences--Are they Safe for my Pet?
